About us

Bringing Ethiopians Together for Peace

About Hope for Peace

Hope for Peace is a collective effort spearheaded by Ethiopians and individuals of Ethiopian origin from both the Amhara and Tigray communities. Our group was born out of deep concern for the escalating antagonism and conflict between these two brotherly peoples, who share a rich history and cultural heritage dating back centuries. The primary mission of Hope for Peace is to address the alarming hostility that has developed between the Amhara and Tigray communities, particularly during the recent war, and to pave the way for the return of peace and stability to the region.

Hope 4 Peace
Unprecedented Conflict Threatening Centuries of Shared Tradition

The Urgent Need for Reconciliation

The formation of Hope for Peace is driven by the unprecedented nature of the current animosity between the Amhara and Tigray communities. These two communities have a long history of intertwined existence, shared culture, beliefs, and religions. This hostility is not confined to political elites but has also affected ordinary people. The conflict has inflicted heavy human and property losses in both communities and plunged the country into a severe political crisis. It has attracted foreign interference that poses a significant threat to the survival of the people and the nation itself. We can and must counter this threat by promoting reconciliation between these two peoples and bring about peace and stability to the country and the region.

Our Peaceful Mission

Working Towards a Peaceful Future

Hope for Peace has a clear and noble objective: to halt the prevailing hatred and conflict between these historically closely bonded communities and foster healthy and peaceful relations. Our group seeks to create a peaceful political environment where both peoples and their leaders can resolve their political and other differences through discussions, negotiations, and legal means. While recognizing the political roots of the crisis, we emphasize that Hope for Peace has no political agenda or aspirations for power. We are a nonpermanent organization with a limited agenda and no permanent structure or legal status, dedicated solely to playing a constructive role in bringing about peace and normalized relations between the Amhara and Tigray communities.
